RTMC 2007 experiences the Newise firsthand
Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC) — May 25th - 28th, 2007

Following on from the success of NEAF 2007, stateside telescope enthusiasts had a second chance to experience the Newise phenomenon at this year's RTMC, May 25th through 28th. The Riverside Telescope Makers Conference was founded in 1969 by Clifford W. Holmes as a way for amateur telescope makers to share their craft. In 1975, the RTMC moved to its current home at Camp Oakes — a YMCA camp near Big Bear City located 50 miles northeast of Riverside in the San Bernardino mountains, California. A waxing gibbous Moon for this year's event meant that deep-sky observers didn't have the dark skies that they might have liked, but the weather was favourable so lunar and planetary observers were in for a treat. The 8-inch Newise drew appreciative crowds when the instrument was trained on Venus, Saturn and the Moon at powers up to 350x. Peter Wise also presented a well-received lecture entitled "A Brief History of the Telescope".

Newise woos the crowds at NEAF 2007
Northeast Astronomy Forum & Telescope Show (NEAF) — April 28th & 29th, 2007

Newise Technologies Ltd. returned triumphant from a successful show presence at the 16th annual North East Astronomy Forum in Suffern, NY (30 minutes away from New York City) on April 28th and 29th. Billed as "America's premier astronomy expo", NEAF 2007 featured in excess of 100 on-site vendors on its opening day. Aside from the trade stands, world-renowned speakers, astro-imaging workshops, daily solar observing (largely clouded-out on the Saturday) and planetarium shows, the event provided something for everyone over a packed weekend. Peter had both the 8- and 12-inch Newise instruments on show which attracted attention from both visitors and exhibitors alike. The picture at left shows Peter talking to Al Nagler (left), founder and CEO of Tele Vue.
