FAQ:     Why choose a Newise?        How does it work?       Is it good for imaging?

In a nutshell:

The revolutionary Newise range of telescopes use a modified Newtonian catadioptric optical system to deliver unrivalled performance in their class. With a small 25% central obstruction and better than 1/8th wave wavefront error, a Newise telescope boasts a Strehl ratio of better than 88 percent. (By comparison, a typical Schmidt-Cassegrain has a 35% central obstruction, a 1/4th wave wavefront error and a Strehl ratio less than 80 percent.)

Detailed Newise performance data may be found on our Imaging page.

Telescope options:

The 200mm f/6 Newise is available in an aluminium tube with a textured black finish or a choice of colours. All other models are supplied with dark gray lightweight carbon-fibre tubes. You also have a choice of a straight through or right-angled 8x50 finder. We can supply custom-made dewshields (extra) or you may opt for a Kendrick dew heater system.

Fittings for both 1.25-inch and 2-inch eyepieces are supplied. Cooling fans for the primary mirror are fitted as standard equipment (with the exception of the 200mm aluminium tube model, but they may be retro-fitted).
